In 1926, William F. Dorn, a salesman with Glidden Paint, joined with a local printing firm to form a color card producing company called Jontzen-Dorn. In the beginning, customers were primarily paint companies. However, after a few years, the printing and color merchandising divisions were split so Jontzen-Dorn could increase its capabilities. This led Jontzen-Dorn to develop new product lines and enter new markets to capture a wider array of customers. Jontzen-Dorn was changed to Dorn Color, Inc. in 1987 to better reflect the company's move into diverse product lines and markets. Today, Dorn is still a privately held company servicing many industries worldwide producing custom color merchandising tools.
